Nature's Perfection

A perfectly landscaped lawn and flower beds surround the VA Clinic building in Hillsboro. I could find no pictures begging to be taken - everything seemed to be too perfect, too sculpted, too fake.
Until I saw this beautiful mushroom, tucked away in a corner of the manicured lawn.
Now THIS is perfection!!!

Further down the street, in a little sculpted "wetlands" area, I spied this wonderful face on an old dead tree. I had to turn the picture upside down, but ain't he cute???

  1. And I bet the face in the tree is the front door to a home for some wildlife thing who thinks of it as his or her castle. There are so few places for wildlife to live these days that those which are around are like food and fought over. Nice photos.

  2. That is perfection if I ever saw it!

  3. What a gorgeously decaying 'shroom! Like it's still wearing the lacy black veil of its Halloween costume!

  4. Wow, Sissy! I LOVE that wonderful mushroom--Nature at her best thwarting our efforts to make her elegant and manicured. I also adored the little face. I'm with Abe--I think that face in the tree is the guardian of some wild thing's castle. (grin)

These photos fill my eyes, Sissy. I especially love that drapish mushroom!

  5. I like the mushroom, too. Perhaps the underdog status is what gives it its true charm.

  6. The shroom looks like a fringed lamp shade. I love it! As for the face in the tree... Again you've captured the secret life... um... in life! Thanks for the smiles. Love and Light, Nina P

  7. That is what I constantly search for: the spot of decay within perfection. This mushroom is a brilliant example.

I do like the markings on the tree, the mystery and the ancientness. But, I am not keen on trying to find human qualities in things like trees and clouds. Do you understand where I am coming from? It just seems to degrade their very beauty and place in the grand scheme of things to personify them. Just me, I suppose ...
