Tree Parking - Signs Signs

This wonderful sign now hangs on Mom's shed ...
I was with my brother Dow when we found it abandoned in a parking lot the day after Christmas nearly ten years ago ...

Dow was so tickled when his girlfriend and I jumped out of the car and grabbed the sign. It was something he would have done himself, had he still been able to do so.

Dow died less than a month later.
And I am thankful that we have this wonderful sign as just one of the reminders of his beautiful and adventurous spirit.

I am linking this to Lesley's "Signs, Signs" - come join us!

And HAPPY THANKSGIVING to those of us who celebrate this holiday here in the US!

  2. Such a simple sign, with so many memories attached.
And I like the way this has been photographed with the shadow of the maple leaves.

  3. I have been missing Dow so much lately. I LOVE this sign. I had never heard the story behind it. What a lovely way to end my day--to read this lovely Dow Tale. ((hugs))

  5. Sometimes I wish there was a remedy for "missing a loved one", because it seems to come up with the holidays! But this is a great reminder of your brother:)

  6. I'm so sorry for your loss. You obviously have many great memories of your brother that you share and cherish with the rest of your family.

That sign is so funny! I can just see a parking lot full of parked trees. Would they get a parking ticket if they overstayed their time? Set down roots, so to speak? :-)

Of course you can use my hearts, any time. Would the seagull poop heart that I posted a few weeks ago also fit into that theme? :-)) http://picturesbyim.blogspot.com/2011/09/guest-heart-thursday.html
